The Ethel Hedgemon Lyle Foundation of Texas will award scholarships to African American students graduating from high school in the Aldine, Cypress-Fairbanks, Conroe, Klein, and Spring Independent School Districts.
SCHOLARSHIP GUIDELINES
The Applicant Must:
• Be an African American female or male high school senior graduating in the spring of 2026, from a high school in the following districts: Aldine, Cypress-Fairbanks, Conroe, Klein, and Spring.
• Plan to attend a two-year college (vocational/trade school) or four-year college or university.
• Complete the form below and provide the requested support documents.
• Make sure it is completed in its entirety
The Applicant must include the following:
• An official transcript with the student's name, GPA, and class rank visible
• A copy of recent SAT or ACT scores with the student's name visible
• A recent headshot photo suitable for publication
• Choose from 1 of 2 essays. The essay must be a minimum of 500 words, typed, and uploaded.
Two (2) letters of recommendation:
1. One from a school official of the high school you are attending.
2. One from an official community service leader who can certify your community service involvement.
Applicant Finalists Must:
• Attend the scholarship awards banquet if chosen as a scholarship recipient. (Date: TBA) AND
• Attend the Summer Check Pick-Up (July 25, 2026) AND
• Attend the Winter Check Pick-Up (January 2, 2027)
APPLICATIONS MUST BE SUBMITTED NO LATER THAN February 15, 2026, by 11:59 pm.
Should you be chosen to continue in the process, you will hear back from us by March 31, 2026.
